Onyx isn't a good option for most over-the-counter, but it does make for a beautiful backsplash. Its beauty and translucency make it attractive, but still impractical. Onyx is also quite brittle and easily crumbles and cracks. But don't give up, you can very well use translucent artificial onyx instead of natural onyx in heavily used commercial counters or bar tops.

Polished granite tends to be less expensive than leathered granite as it is popular and usually readily available. It is more likely to be in stock from suppliers, which makes it less expensive than a leathered granite.

Alcohol is relatively neutral in pH, so it won't etch marble or softer granites. However, we recommend that you immediately clean the drinks with a soft cloth whenever they touch the counter. Otherwise, it may stain.

A marble stain happens when wine has the chance to absorb into the stone countertops. We suggest you start by blotting up any excess red wine and use cool, clean water to remove the red wine residue. Next, use a mixture of three parts baking soda to one part water to form a paste.
