Company Description
Quarra Stone fabricates and supplies architectural and interior stone for signature building projects throughout the United States in collaboration with many of the country’s leading institutions and premier architectural teams on some of America's most prominent architectural landmarks and new award-winning architecture. Our manufacturing plant is state of art with best in the industry CNC (Sawing), milling and finishing equipment complimented with cutting-edge 3-D laser modeling scanners. Frequently, signature projects such as the Gothic Pavilion Entrance at Yale's Bass Library or the ambitious Kansas State House restoration require traditional handwork utilizing highly–refined techniques for hammer and chisel honed by artisans over centuries.
Quarra Stone has the largest capacity and deepest expertise for hand carving work in the nation. We have a long-term partnership with one of Germany's most renowned master stone carving training programs and host artists in residence who work with us on select projects and help mentor our team of master carvers.
We regularly visit quarries across Europe, Africa and the Americas to select the most appropriate stone for a particular condition, climate and design application. Over a recent six-month period for one client alone we examined stone at La Facciata Cave in Carrara, Italy, in Borba, Portugal and Tarragona, Spain and viewed buildings in the Netherlands and Belgium—all in the search and analysis for the perfect stone.
Our work for our clients starts with listening. As a member of the team, Quarra Stone supports the design and budget process with samples, mockups, technical information, schedules, testing and budgets at each phase of design.
