Questions & Answers on Artificial Stone Planters
Are cast stone pots good for plants?
Posted by Visitor
Reply to this question
1ReplyCast Stone Flower Containers or concrete planters are also extremely durable and well suited as permanent fixtures for outdoors. They are frost proof, so breaking is less of an issue. As these are quite heavy, they are good for windy areas but require continual watering.

Are there disadvantages to using terracotta pots for plants?
Posted by Visitor
Reply to this question
1ReplyTerracotta pots look aesthetically pleasing, but unfortunately terracotta pots will begin to absorb the minerals in the soil and will darken the pots. Terracotta pots are also prone to white mold because they absorb a lot of liquid.

Are clay planters better than plastic planters?
Posted by Visitor
Reply to this question
1ReplyClay pots have thick walls that protect plant roots from rapid changes in temperature which can be destructive. They also have a fair amount of weight and do not blow over as easily as some plastic pots. Clay does have the disadvantage of drying quickly.

Why do some pots have drain holes?
Posted by Visitor
Reply to this question
1ReplyWith the exception of a few aquatic plants, plant roots don't like to sit in water. They need to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide with the air, and excess water closes off the air pockets in soil. Plants in pots without drainage holes are prone to becoming overwatered.
